The pitfalls of intaglio modelling

Today we started with intaglio modelling, roughing out little figures on jam jars. Mine resembled a Greek freize! I will attempted a smoother, larger one on flat glass in the next couple of days. We also started playing with little squares of colour, to see the pitfalls of intaglio on colour. I was roughly sketching the youngest member of the class, Josephine, and trying some leaves. Both did not go so well, but at least I learnt what problems this sort of work throws up.
