Exploring what constitutes making a contemporary image and its translation into different media is at the heart of my practice, with a focus on large scale glass engraving and drawing in neon. Currently I work with clear float glass using the techniques pioneered by John Hutton to create work based on my drawings, photographs and digital collages of the two.
My practice also explores the options surrounding the presentation of engraving. Framing it as as a picture questions perception of the image and the object, with the glass as medium and artwork, instead of being the invisible conduit for the contents underneath.
Currently Rough Cut Studio is based in Masterton, New Zealand.
